Devitech – Providing EV charging solutions backed by Virta’s strong CPMS

Devitech is a UK-based EV charging solution provider. By partnering with Virta, the company delivers installation, management and maintenance services supported by Virta’s robust Charge Point Management System (CPMS), 24/7 customer support, fleet capabilities and an extensive roaming network. Read more about our partnership.

Established in 2022 and acquired in 2024 by an environmental consultancy group SaveMoneyCutCarbon, Devitech is committed to helping UK businesses start their sustainability journeys through electric vehicle charging.

Initially, Devitech focused mainly on hardware installations. However, it soon became clear that the real gap in the market lay in what happens after chargers are installed. That insight sparked a shift in direction: to stand out in a competitive market, Devitech would put main focus on charger management and maintenance.

With EV ChargeCare, their monthly subscription service, Devitech offers their customers out-of-hours monitoring, usage and revenue reporting, regular firmware updates, and yearly electrical inspections and safety tests.

Graham Rowlands, CEO at Devitech“We knew the EV market will grow. But the key was finding that niche - addressing specific pain points, especially in the management and maintenance of chargers. For us, the end of the project marks the beginning of our relationship with the customer. And for that, a strong back-end system is essential,” says Graham Rowlands, Devitech’s Managing Director.

Before partnering with Virta, Devitech worked with other providers. But a few persistent challenges drove them to search for a better solution.

One of the biggest pain points was the lack of reliable customer support, which forced Devitech’s small team to handle all customer queries directly. That’s why Virta’s 24/7, in-house support stood out.

“Many providers say they offer 24/7 support, but few actually do. What I like about Virta is that their support is in-house. It works really well for us,” explains Graham.

Graham continues to highlight another key feature that helped seal the partnership – EV fleet management.

Shifting focus to the fleet market

Devitech originally served mainly hotels. Thanks to their UK-wide presence, they installed and currently provide long term management and maintenance for EV chargers in 20 hotels across the country.

But as the market moved forward, many hotels started opting for the fully funded model to operate EV chargers, which made continuing to serve this sector financially unsustainable. This prompted Devitech to take a step in a different direction and put stronger emphasis on the fleet market.

Their fleet focus aligns perfectly with Virta’s offering. EV fleets benefit from a combination of public and private setups, so fleet drivers can enjoy the so-called triangle of convenience – charging at home, at work and on the road.

New call-to-action

In addition, Graham highlights the mobile app that works especially well for fleet users. With the app, fleet drivers can easily locate chargers and access chargers within Virta’s extensive roaming network.

Another fleet specific feature Graham mentions is automated billing, which consolidates charges into a single invoice. This means no more juggling multiple fuel cards or claiming back receipts.

Virta’s back-end system also provides strong analytics on EV driver behaviour and charging patterns. Thanks to these insights, Devitech’s customers have an easy way to analyse the data and make more informed decisions.

Outside the fleet space, Devitech still serves a range of sectors. Especially with their leisure-based clients, such as golf clubs and restaurants, Loalty Pricing provides a big added value. This feature lets charging operators offer a discount on charging prices for a specific group of users. Whether for building customer loyalty or providing employee perks, this feature adds flexibility and impact.

Devitech & Virta – a true collaboration

The partnership between Devitech and Virta could be best described by one word – collaboration.

“We’re selling Virta’s back-end system together with our aftercare and maintenance services as a package. It’s a true collaboration. We’re also receiving a lot of support from Virta’s engineering team,” explains Graham.

Since our partnership started, Devitech has seen some tremendous growth.

“The number of sockets we’ve installed and now manage has doubled year over year,” says Graham.

Future is in DC charging

When asked about the future and Devitech’s plans, Graham points to one clear direction - DC charging.

“We’re seeing a huge increase in DC charger opportunities. Over the next six months, we’re aiming for a 25% increase in installed sockets and out of that, 90% will be DC chargers.”

As the UK’s electricity grid becomes increasingly burdened, energy management will be critical. This is another area where Virta’s innovation gives Devitech a competitive edge. Virta’s investment in energy management technology enhances Devitech’s ability to offer smart solutions in a crowded market.

As Graham concludes: ‘With Virta, we see the biggest opportunity in fleet management – whether at the office, at home, or on the road. And the ability of end-to-end reporting and management of the chargers? That’s the reason why we chose Virta and we wouldn’t think twice about recommending them.”
