What is Virta Boost?
Virta Boost (formerly Virta Solar) is an advanced extension of Virta's Adaptive Load Management system, built to put locally produced renewable energy – solar, battery, wind, or hydro – directly to work charging EVs.
It measures the surplus your site is generating and temporarily raises the import limit for that charging group, so vehicles draw on your own green energy first.
The moment production drops or building demand rises, Virta Boost automatically scales charging power back down – the grid connection stays protected either way.
How it works
Boost adapts to the metering you already have on-site:
- With a dedicated second production meter, Virta Boost tracks your solar, battery, wind, or hydro output directly and allocates that exact surplus to EV charging – the most precise option.
- With just your standard ALM grid meter, Virta Boost can still put local surplus to work in a lighter-weight mode – no second meter required, so it's easier to get started if you haven't fully instrumented your site yet.
Either way, the logic is the same: when local surplus is available, charging power goes up; when it isn't, charging power comes back down, and the grid connection stays protected throughout. No manual intervention, no separate platform to learn.
