Virta backend powers E.ON Drive’s new Dynamic Charge offering
E.ON Drive has launched Dynamic Charge and the new B2B Dynamic green electricity tariff, an offer for companies that want to operate their electric fleets and employee charging at their sites in a cost-effective way.
The solution uses variable wholesale electricity prices and automatically shifts charging sessions to times with particularly favourable tariffs – a classic time-of-use management approach – so that, according to E.ON, charging costs can be reduced by up to 25 percent.
As a technology partner, Virta provides a powerful, cloud-based backend for Dynamic Charge. The combination of E.ON Dynamic Charge and the Virta platform enables:
- intelligent control of charging processes based on parking duration, energy demand and location data
- automatic optimisation of charging times in line with current spot market prices (time-of-use management)
- better utilisation of the existing charging infrastructure and relief for the power grid
Together with the Dynamic Charge feature, the B2B Dynamic tariff enables targeted charging at times when energy is available at particularly low cost. Dynamic Charge works independently of the energy provider with dynamic electricity tariffs and can be seamlessly integrated into existing systems thanks to the Virta backend.
The technical integration has been tested in the E.ON TestingLab. For fleet operators and companies with employee charging at their sites, this creates a future-proof solution that combines cost-efficient charging with the decarbonisation of their vehicle fleets.
With this collaboration, Virta and E.ON Drive are deepening their partnership in the field of smart charging and energy solutions. Together, the two companies support business customers in professionalising their charging infrastructure, reducing costs and making an active contribution to the energy transition.
